Hi there - I am starting my new year as a Full-Time Art teacher and am so excited to have more time with the students.  We have a new "enrichment" class at the end of the day for each class and i find it very welcoming, as the students get to work on their projects for an extra class period!  My theme has been Africa this year. Here are some of the projects the students are working on:

Heading to Phili!

I'm heading out to Philidelphia to go to the Moore College of Art's: Teacher Summer Institute for a week.  I will be getting a dorm room and a studio, and am looking forward to creating some artwork that I will feel good about.  I'm looking for consistency and some drawing work that has some context.  Well off I go carrying 1 suitcase an 2 bags of art supplies on a train!

Art Show 2013!!!

Finally I love the way this Art Show came together! Instead of putting the Cafeteria tables down and having people reaching over the attached stools to look at Artwork... I put the tables up and locked them, then I put up Artwork (that was taped onto brown craft paper) onto the tables so they look more like panels in a gallery than just a Cafeteria! Also I used Rubbermaid tables and put the Artwork that was attached to foam core boards, to create some variety. It was easy to navigate as there was more room to walk around!

Papier Mache' Masks from "meals on wheels trays" - Grade 3

Grade 4 Tin Mirror Mandalas!

We did this project using tin that is thick enough to do a Repouse'.  We talked about radial symmetry and created a sketch and then drew the sketch onto our tin using wooden stylists.  The students flipped them over to emboss the back also.

We then colored some parts with colored sharpies and created a mandala design to mount them onto.  These came out great!
